Vito Gala

Quantitative Research Analyst


Dr. Gala is a senior vice president and quantitative research analyst in the Newport Beach office, focusing on analysis of trading behavior, forecasting and applied statistical methods, and quantitative investment strategies. He is a member of the Americas Portfolio Committee and chair of the Behavioral Research Committee. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2018, he was a finance faculty member at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and London Business School, where his research covered risk premia, corporate policies, political frictions, and their connection to the macroeconomy and markets. Dr. Gala's research has appeared in the Journal of Financial Economics, the Journal of Monetary Economics and the Handbook of the Equity Risk Premium; he has received the Crowell Third Prize from PanAgora Asset Management and twice received the Lehman Brothers Fellowship for Research Excellence in Finance Finalist Prize. He has 20 years of investment and financial services experience and holds an MBA and a Ph.D. in finance from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He received an undergraduate degree from Bocconi University.
