Global Hunger Partnership

PIMCO seeks to do our part to address global hunger by supporting UN Sustainable Development Goal, SDG 2 – Zero Hunger and partnering with The Global FoodBanking Network (GFN).

Through this global partnership we extend our efforts to combat hunger as both a systemic global issue and a local tragedy that prevents families and communities alike from reaching their full potential.

Because of food banks, more than 60 million hungry individuals have access to food.

Global Activation

  • $3m Investment - PIMCO's $3 million investment, beginning in 2018, supports the expansion and effectiveness of food banks in Latin America, South Africa, India, and also the launch of GFN's Food Bank Incubator project which will help jump start food banking operations in vulnerable communities.
  • Annual Signature Food Packing Event – Over the last decade, colleagues from PIMCO’s California, New York, Texas, Toronto and Asia Pacific offices have come together to pack critical meals through our signature event. Through this initiative to date, PIMCO has donated over $2,184,000, mobilized 8,196 volunteers, family and friends, and packed 170,750 food boxes, sacks and meals, collectively impacting more than 478,500 individuals.
  • Strategic Leadership – In 2018, Sachin Gupta, Managing Director and Portfolio Manager, joined GFN’s board of directors.
  • Global Food Drive – During PIMCO’s 10th Annual Global Week of Volunteering, offices participated in local food drives. In 2019, PIMCO expanded the one-week model to one-month, with 38% of events aligned to SDG 2
  • Mobile Food Pantry - In 2018, PIMCO partnered with the Orange County Food Bank to launch a mobile food pantry.
  • Mitigating Food Waste – Launched an internal World Food Day: Food Waste Awareness Campaign in 2018 arming PIMCO colleagues with facts and resources to become a part of the solution. Evolving in 2019, we activated local composting initiatives throughout global offices.
